Meet Missy Moo – The most opinionated, stubborn, sweet, beautiful, bratty, spoiled, Holstein cow!
So I always wanted a milk cow. When Emory and I got together he decided I should have one. I believe in the power of raw milk and raw cream and the naturalness of it. There are so many benefits to real milk I cannot even list them all!
So that being said….Do you want to know about our milk? Missy is typically in milk 5-6 months out of the year. I make as much butter during that time as I can. I hand skim the milk for the cream which leaves the ‘drinking’ milk still full of flavor and some remaining milkfat. Her milk will always have more body than any commercial store milk. She does typically give between 2-3 GALLONS of milk a DAY in addition to feeding her baby. Please come help me!!!
She is a special cow to us. We raised her off of our first dairy cow who was a Jersey cow. Maybel was an amazing cow who we lost tragically but that’s another story for another day.
Missy was the cutest calf who has been told her whole life that her job is to make me milk. Now she thinks her job is to be a spoiled booger, but she begrudgingly gives us milk for which she gets lots of praise and bread.
Now I get the stubborn Cow look, A Lot!
